I am not....

I am not going to do it today
that's my final thought
for you see
I have places to go
things to do
people to see

What, you want me to focus
I don't think so!
My head is so weary
Why all day I have focused it so
Right now, I want to turn my brain
to the off switch, if you don't mind
Why I am just itching to
go skateboarding
bounce my basketball
to play a video game
call a friend
eat a cookie or two
or just watch the clouds fly by

No, I do not think that I can do it today
I have much too much to do and say
I have music lessons
a chess match to play
a craft project that is half done
cake decorating class to attend
I need fresh air
before my mind goes stale

You can try, try with all your might
but you will find
I can not be persuaded to do it now
or even later today and that's final.

I am just too busy with chores
dishes
lawn mowing
feeding my fish
walking the do
or counting my baseball cards

I have a zillion and one things to do
so do not take my time today

What is that you say,
There is no homework, it is Friday -
Oh well, that is a different story
I think I'll stop by the library
and find a good book
or maybe visit the pond
Yes, I think I will learn how to.....

Well, I think you get the point
I will not do it if your ideas are not clear
'cause you see, I am rather busy with
just growing up
and checking out the world
Anyway, there is always Monday
night, right?
