Bullying in Middle Schools

Suggestions and tips for dealing with bullying.

Address the bully and the victim.

When addressing the bully- make sure you address the problematic behavior, not the child.

Try to let the children know that this is normal. That it isn't their fault and that they can talk about it and you will be there for them.

Make sure they have support where ever they might wander, and make sure that support understands the whole situation.

Deal with the problem now, not later.

Try to make the environment around the child as loving, supportive, and comfortable as possible. Young adolescents are going through a lot of change and are very fragile. They need to know that you're there for them.

Talk to them and listen to what they are trying to say.

Don't judge.

Get all sides of the story, if possible.
