In the same idea of a parents
involvement in the classroom, there has to be a rapport
between the teacher and parent for this relationship to be a
beneficial one. Some key aspects to make this relationship
both effective and a success are:
- Parent introduction to the the
teacher as soon as possible
- Important information about the
child that the parent thinks the teacher should
know
- Having the parent let the teacher
know when is the best time to contact them about their
child and vice versa
- Have the parents attend school
functions (other then sporting events)
- Parental support of the teacher
(helping in the classroom; seeing how education actually
works)
- Inter-parental
interaction
- Parents being open minded to new
educational practices (i.e. Curriculum
Integration)
- Parents doing related reading on
what is currently happening in education so that they may
have more informed opinions
- When a problem arises, have open
lines of communication
