How does the involvement of parents affect the classroom atmosphere?

In the classroom, the role of a parent can be a valuable commodity. In researching this point, we found support that proves the role of the parent to be a positive one. Our findings are as follows, as derived from the NCPIE web site

  • Parents are more able to exchange information with their child's teacher.
  • It can serve as a chance for parents to have an active role in decision making (discipline, assessment, learning styles etc.)
  • Volunteering and assisting the teacher in the classroom also allows parents to become involved.
  • It increases the amount of collaboration in their child's learning.

"When parents/families are involved in their children's education, children do better in school." (NCPIE)
